Beth Bowers-Klaine, a 2d Degree Chief in the Ohara Schoolhouse of Ikebana volition demonstrate a range of ikebana designs from simple to more complex. She will show how the introduction of Western floral materials and changes in lifestyle have influenced the traditional Japanese art of ikebana. See in the Castellini Room (ground level). A Conversation with Doan Ly

Doan Ly, a floral designer and photographer based in New York City, will discuss her creative process in floral design and storytelling, and finding the theatricality of the moment. Recognized by her dreamy palettes and compositions, her work often revolves around the colors and flowers that pass through her studio, too as the guests who visit, the assistants who work for her, and occasionally, issue the lunch commitment person. Together they class an ensemble of performers, models, and subjects for Ly's collaborative experiments.

Join invitee speaker, Mary Lou Smith, to learn the artistic component for successful creative expression through the beauty of flowers. Mrs. Smith is the Past President of the Garden Lodge of Ohio, and Accredited Chief Judge Level 4, a fellow member of the National Garden Club, and a member of the Judges Written report Class in Cincinnati.

ArtWorks Studio Tour

Radha Lakshmi and Artworks' youth apprentices will demonstrate how to print on paper using eco-friendly methods in the V2 Gallery. Lakshmi, a Visual and Customs Artist, is as well a trained printmaker. Lakshmi was born and raised in Chennai, Tamilnadu, India, now a long-time Cincinnati resident. Her fine art-making has moved from printmaking to ritual threshold ephemeral fine art, emphasizing eco-friendly materials. With the guidance of the atomic number 82 teacher, Radha Lakshmi, the Youth Artists will demonstrate a printing process of layering flowers and leaves resulting in a stunning visual composition using Storytelling.

Youth worker and science educator, Solomon Montagno, will explore the historical contributions of African American botanists and their touch on gardens equally centers for science learning for urban urban center youth. Montagno is also the Program Director for CitySprouts, a science teaching non-profit in Boston and Cambridge public schools in Massachusetts.
